For several years, Jason R. Levine has been developing an approach to ELT based on songs that he writes and performs as Fluency MC. These songs, called ColloTunes, promote the acquisition and use of collocations to improve proficiency in English. They focus on areas of grammar and vocabulary learning that teachers typically find difficult or boring to teach. Jason makes videos of his songs and various supplementary materials. He posts the videos on YouTube and promotes them on Facebook, where he is an active administrator of a number of ELT/ELL groups and pages.
After earning an MA in TESOL from Hunter College in 1999, Jason taught at several schools before becoming director of curriculum development for Embassy CES. Then, in 2002, he co-founded a TOEFL prep and English conversation school for international students in Manhattan. he is currently academic director of CAMPUS Education, a group of privately-owned English language schools based in New York City.
